Terrance Clements passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the North Okanagan Hospice in Vernon, BC on December 23, 2019, at the age of 79 years. Terry will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Florence; children; Robert, Jacqueline (Greg), Tyler (Holly) and Chantelle (Scott); his grandchildren; Isabel, Chloe, Alexandra, Owen, Lachlan, Jacob, Avery, Gabriella, and Leo; his sister, Joyce (Harlan) as well as extended family and dear friends. Terry was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Cecil, his sister, Geraldine, and his brothers; Lyle, Russell, and Douglas. Terry began his entrepreneurial career in 1965 with the purchase of a photography and music studio in Barrhead, Alberta. In 1972, Terry moved into news and printing and owned and published a number of local newspapers, including the Spruce Grove Examiner, Edmonton Examiners, Barrhead Leader, Westlock News, Athabasca Advocate, Grizzly Gazette, Alberta Hunting and Fishing and the Town and Country magazine, as well as West Web Press, a commercial printing plant in Edmonton, Alberta and Netweb, a commercial printing plant in London, Ontario. After selling his commercial printing business to Quebecor in 1989, Terry served as the CEO of Quebecor Edmonton, Terry’s love of newspapers and books continued throughout his life and, after retirement, he continued to read voraciously and to write short stories as well as a detailed family history. Terry was active in his community, volunteering for, among other organizations, the Barrhead Kinsmen Club, the Alberta Cancer Foundation, the John Howard Society and Habitat for Humanity. He coached youth softball and was active in politics, enthusiastically joining campaign efforts. Terry enjoyed sports and spent countless hours golfing, skiing, running, cycling, curling, and cheering on his beloved Edmonton Oilers. More than anything, Terry was a loving husband and father and was devoted to his family, which to him included his immediate family as well as both his and Flo’s extended families and the people he worked with over the years. Terry will be remembered for his loyalty, generosity, and kindness, as well as his mischievous humor and intellect. In lieu of flowers, donations to the BC Cancer Foundation and Parkinson Canada would be greatly appreciated.
