Bakker, John Jacob Thomas
July 18, 1957 – January 9, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear brother and uncle, John Bakker, on January 9, 2025 in Edmonton, AB at the age of 67.
John is survived by his loving sisters, Janet (Ron) Toogood and Wilma (Joe) Bailey; brother Gerald Bakker; sister-in-law Carol Bakker; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father John Bakker; mother Catharina Bakker; sister Rosemary Roufosse; brother Frank Bakker; sister-in-law Sharon Bakker; and nephew Paul Roufosse. Their memories were always held close to his heart.
John was born and raised in Edmonton. He suffered many misfortunes throughout his life but, he always maintained a happy and positive outlook. He lived a simple life and enjoyed a good game of cards, telling or listening to a good joke and loved watching the Edmonton Oilers hockey games. He was most happy spending time with his family and close friends. John will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025 at 1:00 pm in St. Edmund’s Catholic Church, 13120 116 St. NW, Edmonton, AB with reverend Jinu Rajan officiating.
A special thanks to all of the staff and John’s friends at the Pembina Lodge in Westlock where he lived for the past three years. You were all so kind to him and he loved you all.
