DAPP – On Thursday, Dec. 12 the Pembina North Community School grade 7 to 9 students presented A Christmas Carol with Lily Grenon as Scrooge in the afternoon performance.
“It was a great performance,” said Pembina Hills School trustee Sherry Allen.
Grenon was the perfect grumpy, angry, frustrated Scrooge and the audeince could feel his emotions in the crowd.
The play was split into six acts with Christmas concerts songs and music performed by the kindergarten to grade 6 students entertaining the audience between acts.
The fantastic set design took the audience to another world and the entire cast was on mark with their parts. The ghosts that visit Scrooge were each convincing in their roles, delivering strong warnings to Scrooge. The ghost of Christmas past showed Scrooge a past Christmas with his family around the tree.
The audience could see the joy of the event for the family and the impact it was having on Scrooge through the Ghost’s words.
The Ghost of Christmas Past was played by Morgan Gibson, who was magical, taking the audience to another place in time.
The flowing cape of the Ghost of Christmas Present, played by Jolyn Teriouw, drew attention, but it was her directness that hit Scrooge’s nerves.
The Ghost of Christmas Future, played by Jett Boelman, was foreboding in his costume and actions.
Even the townspeople demonstrated realistic interactions on the street, creating a seasonal spark in the air.
The cast included Audrey van Gool and Vera Seatter as Jacob Marley, Serenity Kootenay as Scrooge’s nephew, Grace Grenon as Bob Cratchit, Savannah Lafleur as Mrs. Cratchit, and Ezekiel Huether as Tiny Tim.
Jack Meikle and Ryan Lawrence played the Gentlemen, and the Townspeople were played Cole Johnstone, Chloe Wilson, Emily Woodrow, Alyse Rau, and Kendra Breckenridge. The crew members included Will Lefebvre, Ian Lea, Logan Buchak, Eliza Huether, and Octavia Thordarson.
The Play Director is Mrs. Carling Montgomery. The prop and set coordinator is Miss Sofia Sheridan.
Mason McLean played Scrooge in the evening performance.
