There was a great turnout for the Flatbush Redneck Daze on June 15, with many interesting events throughout the day.
The day started with a pancake breakfast, providing a feast for the early risers.
Parade Marshal Mike Romanyshyn organized a fantastic parade of floats, including a fire truck with mascot Sparky.
Beautiful face-painting images lit up the faces of many of the younger attendees throughout the day, crafted by Grace Malone.There was a bouncy house for kids.
Beer gardens ran inside and out. People had plenty of choice. They could enjoy an amazing lunch hosted by the Flatbush Silver Threads or the tasty concession offerings from the Jlimmo family.
The Smith Petting Zoo provided some very gentle animals for folks to admire and get a pet in.
The North 44 Rural Roots Farmer’s Market organized vendors for everyone to fill their shopping interests.
There was a horseshoe tournament organized by Carol Stockman. Division A winners were Team Barefoot and Pregnant. Division B winners were Team Polecat.
Terry Metzger and Marie Meyn ran the crib tournament. The Winner was Terry Metzger. Stinker, Judy Rendle, received a skunk trophy.
Kandee Stadnyk organized a slow-pitch tournament with five teams.
The top team was No Parts. Second were the Yager Bombers. Third were the Rednex. Fourth were the Masterbatters and 5th were the Rusty Swingers.
Some great baseball was played by all of the teams.
A melt-in-your-mouth steak dinner followed baseball.
Cristy Paly ran the 50/50 and Calvin Chapotelle took home $146.50 with the other half going to the Flatbush legion for renovations.
The next big event is Flatbush Rocks 2024 on Saturday, July 20.
