Fire crews have finished their on-scene investigation of a structure fire that broke out at approximately 9:10 a.m. on April 24 in Westlock's industrial area .

The Town of Westlock Fire Department Chief, Stuart Koflick, told Town and Country that a loud 'bang' sound had been reported at 9450 and 109 street.

Upon arrival, the building had already been evacuated and were informed of a fire located in one of the processing units in the basement of the facility. The fire was under control within 30 minutes. While the cause is still under investigation, the fire department swept the building to ensure all potential smouldering hot spots had been extinguished. No injuries or fatalities have been reported.

EMS, Pickardville Fire Department, and the Westlock County Fire Department were all on the scene. Koflick wanted to extend a thank you to the members, "not just the towns but the counties members as well, [...] they do provide a phenomenal service and I'm extremely proud of what they have accomplished in these last two days."

Stay tuned for updates.
