CLYDE – During a special council meeting on Sept. 30, the Village of Clyde selected a draft logo for its rebranding initiative.
Council is transforming the village's image around a mail, stamp and postmaster theme.
Chief Administrative Officer Jaye Parrent had previously presented council with the logo alternatives created by Alberta-based marketing company Unfussy. Marketing strategist Corey Brewis had suggested the village make the most of the fact that Clyde was named after its first postmaster, George D. Clyde.
Council unanimously chose a logo that is in the shape of stamp and depicts a sun over rolling hills. In addition, they recommended a tagline with the year the village was established be added to the logo.
Council is also considering highlighting the methods mail was delivered since Canada’s inception, everything from horseback riders to trains. They also discussed the possibility of having an old-fashioned “postmaster” wearing a traditional hat and becoming a “character” for the village at its annual events.
The special meeting was held ahead of council's upcoming regular meeting on Oct. 21.
The village has been working on adopting a marketing and branding strategy to promote the community for both residential and commercial growth. The need was identified in Clyde’s 2023-27 strategic plan.
