CLYDE – The Village of Clyde council voted in favour of joining Westlock and District Chamber of Commerce.
Clyde hasn’t been a member of the chamber before.
“Supporting the Westlock and District Chamber of Commerce would demonstrate that the Village of Clyde is interested in connecting with the local business community and playing a role on supporting economic development in the region,” Chief Administrative Officer Jaye Parrent said in her report to council.
Coun. Donna Moore was in favour of the village joining, saying that it’s about relationship building, and a way to shine a light on Clyde.
According to its website, the goal of the Chamber is to advance the interests of small and large businesses in Westlock and area. Their activities include hosting events, lobbying local representatives, and participating in charitable events. They hold meetings monthly on the second-to-last Tuesday of every month.
Deputy Mayor Alma Cruise Irwin said it would be worth it for the village to join.
“Going for one year is not going to hurt us.”
Council voted in favour of joining for a year.
