CLYDE – Following an annual review of its snow removal policy, Clyde council bumped up the priority of plowing the alley behind the post office after a snowfall.
During its regular meeting on Oct. 21, council unanimously voted in favour of amending the policy. They had discussed the issue during their Public Policy and Priorities meeting on Sept. 16 and recommended that council make the amendment.
The alley that runs east and west is now a Priority 1, meaning it will be one of the streets plowed first after a snowfall. The village clears its roadways in order of priority.
Main roads used as school bus routes, are given priority one. Other main roads include 49th Street, 50th Street, 50th Avenue, 52nd Street from Highway 18 to 52nd Avenue, 52nd Avenue from 52nd Street to 49 Street and the alley running east-west at the post office. Trails and sidewalks adjacent to village-owned properties such as the administration office, Community Hall, Seniors Complex, and the Cenotaph will be cleared concurrently.
Priority 2 includes arterial roads and residential streets that are cleared once the main roadways are cleared.
Back lanes and Agricultural Society Operated Property are considered Priority 3. These include the Curling Complex, the Clyde Hall, the Village of Clyde Sports Grounds, and the Gymkhana facility.
