CTV is projecting Arnold Viersen will be returning to Ottawa for the fourth consecutive term after voters gave him an overwhelming mandate to be their voice in the House of Commons.
Viersen, who has been the Peace River – Westlock MP since the riding was created in 2015, celebrated the victory at a campaign party in Barrhead. The Neerlandia native will be looking to expand upon a political career that’s featured work with Indigenous communities, as well as anti-human trafficking legislation.
Official polling numbers won’t be in until later in the week, but the lowest vote total Viersen has received historically was 63 per cent, when the New Democratic Party and People’s Party of Canada both brought in 12 per cent respectively.
