WESTLOCK – A 52-year-old Rochester man suspected of being a drug dealer has been denied bail. Jason Brian Munn appeared via CCTV from the Edmonton Remand Centre on Feb. 12 for a bail hearing in Westlock Court of Justice.
Crown prosecutor Eric Mosley was opposed to Munn’s release. He told the court that Munn has charges in Westlock, Athabasca, and Edmonton courts.
In Westlock court, Munn faces charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine, fentanyl and cocaine, as well as failing to comply with release order conditions.
Munn was arrested by Westlock RCMP near Vimy on Jan. 27. Following a search, police say they found approximately 237.1 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 90.08 grams of suspected cocaine, 2.6 grams of suspected fentanyl, suspected codeine pills and an assortment of drug paraphernalia.
The contested bail hearing was reverse onus, which means it was up to the accused’s defence lawyer to justify his release.
Justice G. Rice denied Munn’s bail, remanded him in custody and adjourned the matter to March 12.
