WANDERING RIVER - A 65-year-old Edmonton man is dead following a single vehicle rollover on Highway 63 south of Wandering River early Thursday morning.

Boyle RCMP responded to a 911 call regarding the incident about 30 km south of the hamlet near Township Road 700 at approximately 1 a.m. Dec. 9 and were joined on scene by emergency medical services, the Wandering River Fire Department and Highway 63 Rescue.

"Attempts by witnesses and responding emergency crews were unsuccessful in extricating the lone driver from the vehicle to provide emergency first aid," stated a Dec. 10 RCMP media release. "The lone occupant of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene."

It also notes the southbound lane of the highway was diverted for a short period while Boyle RCMP and collision reconstructionists investigated the scene.

"Preliminary results of the investigation indicate a pick-up truck was travelling southbound on Highway 63 when it lost control and rolled several times before coming to rest in the centre median. Icy road conditions are believed to be a contributing factor in this collision," the release went on to say.

The name of the deceased will not be released and no further updates are expected.
