The Alberta RCMP have charged three northern residents with first degree murder.

The Alberta RCMP have charged two individuals with first degree murder after a fire pit containing human remains was located near Kikino Métis Settlement last summer.

Through a collaboration of multiple RCMP detachments, including Lac La Biche, Bonnyville, and Wabasca, alongside specialized units from Edmonton, three suspects were identified in the death of Jeremy Collins, a 34-year-old resident of Kikino.

Curtis White, a 33-year-old resident of Wabasca, and Amber Hope, a 26-year-old resident from Kikino, were arrested Jan. 17, and have been charged with first degree murder and indignity to human remains.

Randall Louis Gadwa, a 31-year-old resident of Kehewin Cree Nation, was charged with first degree murder after his Jan. 22 arrest.

None of the allegations have been proven in court.

All three suspects were remanded into custody after an appearance before a Justice of the Peace. White and Hope will be in court Feb. 3 in Lac La Biche, and Gadwa will have his first appearance Feb. 6, also in Lac La Biche.
