CLYDE – A public hearing has been scheduled for Feb. 10 after Clyde council gave first reading to amendments of its Land Use Bylaw (LUB) during their regular meeting on Jan. 13.
Chief Administrative Officer Jaye Parrent told council that the amendments would add clarity for peace officers and “leave little room for interpretation with respect to RVs.”
The village has had complaints the last couple of months about people living in RVs parked in the village.
In the LUB, the clause will be added about issuing temporary visitor permits for RVs parking in the village. They will only be allowed to park for up to two weeks.
Mayor Charis Agguire asked if this was similar to the Community Standards Bylaw amendments council made earlier in their meeting.
Parrent said that the LUB has to be amended differently.
“There was no definition for campground, recreational park, drive way pad, park, parking pad, recreational vehicle or vehicle,” she said. “Those are items we want to add into the LUB.
The LUB also states that no recreational vehicle can be connected to any utility service or municipal services for more than 48 consecutive hours.
“It just reiterates what is in the Community Standards Bylaw so there is consistency between the two. Because it’s a land use bylaw it requires a public hearing.
Council passed first reading to the amendments.
