ATHABASCA — Athabasca RCMP have arrested one of two wanted men in relation to an Oct. 25 traffic stop that left one local police officer injured.
In an Oct. 28 afternoon press release, RCMP announced the arrest of one individual. The two men became wanted to police after they fled the scene of a traffic stop, injuring the officer who was responding to a report of a suspicious vehicle.
RCMP released more details in an Oct. 29 press release, naming the arrested individual as 62-year-old Athabasca County resident Glen Morin.
The two men were described as driving a four-door super crew white Ford F-150, made between 2009 and 2014, with a missing passenger sideview mirror. The truck also has running boards, a chrome grille and bumpers, and possible damage to the right headlight and passenger door. At the time of the stop, it was covered in dried mud.
On Oct. 25, an officer pulled the truck over after receiving a report of a suspicious vehicle. The driver refused to provide identification, and when the officer attempted an arrest, the driver fled, inflicting minor injuries on the officer. A hunting rifle was seen between the male driver and male passenger.
The truck was spotted east of Westlock on Sunday at the Petro Canada gas station near Clyde between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
Anyone with information on the remaining suspect or his whereabouts, is advised not to approach the suspect and to call Athabasca RCMP at 780-675-5122.
