BOYLE — Boyle Healthcare Centre’s emergency department will be closed for three days over the weekend due to a lack of physician coverage.
From 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, Saturday, Sept. 21, and Sunday, Sept. 22, patients in need of emergency care at the Boyle Hospital will be redirected to alternate emergency departments.
The three-day closure is in addition to the ongoing nightly closures of Boyle’s emergency department. Nurses will remain on scene to triage and assess any patients presenting to the Healthcare Centre. Nearby emergency departments include those at the Athabasca Healthcare Centre, the George McDougall Smoky Lake Healthcare Centre, and the William J. Cadzow Healthcare Centre in Lac La Biche.
EMS in the community will remain available and will work with the hospital to ensure emergency services can be accessed. Medical emergencies should be directed to 911, and locals can call 811 for non-emergency health questions. If physician coverage is found, the disruption may be cancelled.
