Extremely poor driving conditions have resulted in multiple vehicle incidents on Hwy 63 north of Wandering River

Wandering River — Athabasca County is warning drivers on the road to be on the lookout for emergency crews and responders near the hamlet of Wandering River after severe weather impacted road conditions in many parts of the province.

In a Jan. 22 advisory, the county noted crews are responding to multiple vehicle incidents along Hwy 63 north of Wandering River. Traffic may be impacted by the presence of crews and drivers are advised to use extreme caution when travelling and follow directions of any traffic controller along the highway.

The incidents come on the heels of severe snow and icy conditions seen on Jan. 21, weather that resulted in a travel advisory and tow ban for Hwy 2 between Edmonton and Calgary. Advisories for north and central Alberta warned of white out conditions with severe wind and extremely poor visibility, especially around Edmonton.
