WESTLOCK –  Westlock RCMP are asking residents to secure their homes and properties from crime. Items such as all-terrain vehicles, automobile parts, and other tools and equipment are often targets for theft. Keeping these items secured and out of sight reduces the risk of them being stolen.

Securing your property takes a little bit of time for a lot of peace of mind. Here are a few tips to consider:

• Collect any parts, tools, or equipment located in your yard and store them in a secured garage or shed.

• Install motion-sensor lighting and a video security system on your property.

• Record serial numbers, makes, and models of your property, and take photos for later documentation.

• Remove your keys from any all-terrain vehicles, cars, and trucks, and store the keys in a central location in your home.

• Park vehicles in a garage when possible.

By following these easy steps, you can help in reducing property crime in your community. For more crime reduction information, follow the Alberta RCMP on Facebook @RCMPinAlberta and X @RCMPAlberta, along with the hashtag #SafetyforSummer.Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP)
