Westlock RCMP S/Sgt Jeff Sehn was among a distinguished group of RCMP officers to be honoured with the prestigious King Charles III’s Coronation Medal.

The RCMP employees selected for this honour have served in a variety of roles and positions. Special consideration was given to those whose actions have had an international impact that reflected well on the RCMP and Canada, who have significantly contributed to RCMP cultural evolution and reconciliation, who have contributed to domestic operations to assist their fellow Canadians, and who are deeply committed to their communities through involvement and volunteer work.

“Every single medal recipient has set an incredible example of leadership and service in their communities,” said Deputy Commissioner Rob Hill, Commanding officer of the Alberta RCMP, in a media release. “They represent the core values of the RCMP – integrity, professionalism, respect and compassion. This is a recognition of the lasting impacts they’ve made on the people they serve.”

Hill added that these individuals have innovated and changed the way the RCMP operates, their actions have demonstrated expertise, and some have been recognized as national and international authorities in their fields.

Sehn started his career with the RCMP 19 years ago after being recruited out of Calgary. He was posted to Morinville, Alert Combined Forces Special Enforcement, Redcliff Detachment, Ponoka Integrated Traffic, Ponoka General Duty, Redwater Detachment, and then Westlock Detachment.

In addition to his RCMP duties, Sehn is an active volunteer, contributing his time to Sturgeon Minor Hockey and St. Albert Lacrosse. He enjoys coaching hockey, camping, ATVing and hunting.

The King Charles III’s Coronation Medal was created to commemorate the coronation of King Charles III with 30,000 Canadians selected to receive recognition for their hard work. To be eligible to receive the medal, a Canadian must have made significant contributions to Canada or to a particular province, territory, region, or community of Canada, or have made an outstanding achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada.

Sehn received his award on Jan. 14, in a ceremony held in Devon.
