WESTLOCK – It will be easier for Westlock County residents to apply for fire permits online without having to download, print and mail or drop them off at the office.
The fire permit forms are now live, and 11 more forms should be available in about two to three weeks, council heard during their regular meeting on Jan. 28.
Coun. Sherri Provencal said she wanted to ensure that once the forms are filled out, administration is getting them immediately. The administration said staff gets the forms right away.
The Request for Compliance Certificate and Unauthorized Development Complaint Forms have been approved and will be live in a couple of weeks.
Other forms have been developed and staff are testing their functionality, workflow process and notifications. They include pre-authorized payment application, virtual talent application, residential waste disposal permit, permission to enter lands, tansy incentive program, shelter belt program, exemption from municipal road allowance herbicide application, fence line spraying, and amendments to land use bylaw forms.
In September 2024, the county had started working on digitizing some forms available on their website.
Other forms are in the development phase, such as low-hazard fireworks and fireworks vendor forms. The Low Hazard Fireworks permit applicant will seek approval from the County with submission of this form. Once approved, they will be sent an automated email containing a Q.R. code for the firework's vendor to scan and complete the Fireworks Vendor form to verify the fireworks sale accompanied the approved fireworks permit. All documents will be filed together. Both forms should be ready for testing within 2 weeks.
Forms to be developed yet include plumbing permit, electrical permit, development permit, gas permit, building permit, and an application for a private sewage disposal system.
