A fire that destroyed a garage behind a house on 107 Street in Westlock remains under investigation.

Town fire chief Stuart Koflick said crews responded to a call of a structure fire on the north side of 107 Street just east of 102 Avenue at 12:18 a.m. on April 29.

“Upon arrival of the fire crews on scene, we observed a garage and storage shed totally involved in fire,” he said.

Two trucks attended the scene, Koflick said, allowing firefighters to attack the blaze from the street and from the alley behind the property.

It took crews just under an hour to get the fire under control, assuming the upper hand on the flames at around 1:11 a.m., he said.

No one was injured in the fire, Koflick said, but two vehicles and all the contents of the structures were destroyed.

Westlock RCMP Staff Sgt. Dwayne Rawson said the blaze remains under investigation, and after a visit from the fire investigator has been deemed suspicious.

Rawson added anyone who has any information about the fire is asked to call the Westlock RCMP at 780-349-4492 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
