A 60-year-old Edmonton man died at the Westlock Airport on Saturday competing in the Canadian Skydiving Championships.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. during the final day of competition at Westlock Municipal Airport. RCMP were called shortly after to the scene of the incident.
The cause of death is yet unknown and police have not released the name of the victim.
RCMP are investigating the incident with the help of military experts, who will examine the man’s equipment.
Over 150 skydivers took part in the nationals, which was hosted by Edmonton Skydive and ran from Monday to Saturday. Participants compete for a chance to be on the Canadian national skydiving team.
