Dapp Canada Day parade attracts big crowd

Dapp parade goers were treated to a fantastic assortment of eye-catching sights

People came out in droves, parked all the way to the highway, to see the Dapp Canada Day Celebration parade.

“The parade was an impressive show, definitely worth the trip!” stated Peter Vanderwal, a parade attendee.

The July 1 Canada Day event was not hampered by the Sunday night rain.

Roads were muddy but the sun was shining for the pancake breakfast, parade and farmer’s market organized by Dapp resident volunteers.

Parade attendees came well prepared with their lawn chairs and supplies.

The singing of O Canada preceded the parade.

Families and friends alike gathered in front of the hall and down the street vying for the best place to watch the parade entries and get their share of treats thrown out by float riders.

The parade included some eye-catching antique cars and trucks, an amazing show of decorated bikes, a small horse and buggy, Royal Lepage Realty, vintage tractors and the Fawcett and Westlock County fire trucks.

The horse scared a bit rounding the corner and got off track a bit but was quickly calmed and righted back into the stream of the parade.

A beautiful blue Cadillac convertible started off the parade followed by the kid-decorated bikes.
