WESTLOCK - Westlock County is warning that due to high stream flow from the Pembina River there is the potential for overland flooding within the municipality.
Via a 3 p.m., June 22, Westlock Regional Notification System alert, the county says that the potential affected area is near the intersection of Highway 18 and Highway 776, travelling northeast towards Dapp near Highway 661 and further towards Jarvie.
"Residents are asked to take necessary precautions to protect their property and livestock and check with their neighbours. Avoid the area and be aware of dangerous conditions around riverbanks and low-lying areas,” reads the release in part.
It goes on to note that the river is expected to peak Monday, June 26, at approximately 1 p.m. and with the recent dry conditions there may be the capacity for additional water in spill ways.
