WESTLOCK – Hallywood RV Park held another very successful Hallywood Jamboree at the beginning of August, raising more than $12,000 for the Kids with Cancer Society.
Campground owners Dave and Sarah Hall put on the Hallywood Jamboree every year at the beginning of August since they opened the park seven years ago. It’s an outdoor event, with a bandstand set up for performers, for campers at the park and others to come and enjoy some great entertainment. Donations of goods and services from many generous donators are offered by raffle or sold by live auction.
At the end of the weekend, results of the sale of these items meant the Halls were able to donate a total of $12,331 to Kids with Cancer Society and presented a cheque to them the following week at the Kids with Cancer house near the U of A Hospital in Edmonton. A note from the Society said, “We would like to send a huge thank you to Hallywood RV Park! This incredible group had a very successful jamboree a couple of weeks ago and raised $12,331 for the Kids with Cancer Society! Thank you so much for supporting our families! Way to go Team Hallywood!”
Dave said they have donated proceeds from the raffle and sale to Kids with Cancer Society since they first opened Hallywood RV Park seven years ago. The year they opened their RV Park, and held their first jamboree, they decided to donate funds to Kids with Cancer Society. Why Kids with Cancer? Kensie Beattie of Busby, a good friend of their daughter Abbey, passed away that year at the tender age of five as a result of cancer. This has been their donation of choice ever since.
He noted since that first year and including this year, Hallywood RV Park has been able to donate over $50,000 to the Kids with Cancer Society. A wonderful memorial to Kensie Beattie.
Dave added a “huge thank you to everyone who donated and those who took part in the raffle and sale.”
On their website, www.hallywoodrvpark.com, is a recap of the 2022 Hallywood Jamboree. In part, it says, “Another successful and awesome year is behind us with this great event. The turnout was awesome with lots of return supporters and a lot of new faces as well. The support we receive from people all around the province is incredible to say the least. The performers put on a show that was second to none all weekend and the weather couldn’t have been better. A small 30-minute shower cooled us off Saturday afternoon, but the skies cleared up just in time for the entertainment to begin.”
The post on their website also notes, “We would like to send a huge thank you to those sponsors for donating items, support and their time to make this all possible,” and lists the many organizations and individuals who helped.
