WESTLOCK COUNTY – Alberta Transportation wants the contractor to fix Highway 44 and Westlock Industrial Park Project upgrades, Westlock County Chief Administrative Officer Tony Kulbisky told council on Nov. 12.
Kulbisky said that county administration is aware of the pavement surface quality issues on the mainline of Highway 44 and had received similar complaints from various stakeholders.
“The work has not been accepted by Alberta Transportation and the contractor is required to conduct corrective measures to meet all contract requirements as per their contract with Alberta Transportation.”
Coun. Sherri Provencal asked if Alberta Transportation had given the contractor a timeline for when they need to complete the corrective measures.
It will likely be next year, said Kulbisky.
Alberta Transportation has invoiced Westlock County for their share of the project. The county’s updated county contribution amount is estimated at $716,040.
Council voted in favour of authorizing the transfer of $264,230 from the General Operating Reserves to the 2024 Capital Budget for the Highway 44 and Westlock Industrial Park Project. The county’s initial contribution was budgeted at $500,000.
