Dorothy Woytovicz
May 19, 1938 ~ February 25, 2025
Dorothy was born in Coolidge in 1938, the fourth child of Michael and Nadia Rubik. From an early age, she embodied resilience, compassion, and a deep commitment to family. In 1954, she married the love of her life, Alex Woytovicz, and together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Dorothy's life was defined by her devotion to those she held dear. She was a loving mother to Sharon & Niel Van Hout of Athabasca, Greg & Marcia Woytovicz of Athabasca, Cathy & John Haub of Athabasca and Susan & Duane Haub of Calgary. She also held a special place in her heart for her sisters-in-law, Vicky Rubik and Verna Woytovich, and, most of all, her nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy. Her home was always open, her table always full, and her arms always ready to embrace those who needed comfort.
Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved husband Alex in 2014, her daughter Cathy in 2022, her parents Michael and Nadia, and her siblings Mary, Sofia, Vera, Nina, and Nick. Though we feel the weight of loss, we take comfort in knowing she is reunited with those she loved and missed.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff of the Athabasca Auxiliary Hospital for their compassionate care and support over the years. Your kindness and professionalism meant so much to Dorothy and to all who loved her.
Dorothy’s generosity, compassion, and charismatic spirit will always be cherished by those who knew her. Dorothy’s love and kindness will live on in the hearts of those she touched, and we invite all who knew her to join us in celebrating a life well lived.
A Prayer Service will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. at Athabasca Community Chapel.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 7, 2025, at the Athabasca Community Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Athabasca Auxiliary Hospital or to a charity of one’s choice in Dorothy’s memory.
Dorothy, you will be deeply missed, but your light will never fade from our hearts.
