Bieuwke Van Der Veen
Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, everyone of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. Psalm 139:16
On March 16, 2025, our mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister in the Lord, Bieuwke Van Der Veen was promoted to heavenly glory at the age of 92.
She will be greatly missed by her eight children, Johanna (Walter) Schnieder, Ann (Adrian) Abma, Richard (Carla) Van Der Veen, John (Roberta) Van Der Veen, Charles (Doreen) Van Der Veen, Margareth (Rick) Abma, George Van Der Veen & Sarah Van Der Veen; as well as numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She will also be missed by her siblings Christine DeWind, John van Assen, Joe van Assen, Ralph van Assen, Rinie Rispens and their spouses.
She was predeceased by her late husband of 62 years, Stoffer and her brothers Henry van Assen, Bill van Assen and sister Eke Klos.
Bieuwke was born on December 4, 1932, in Marum, Groningen, the Netherlands to Pieter and Joukje (Ploegh) van Assen. She immigrated to Canada with her family from the Netherlands in 1952, and met her future husband Stoffer in Edmonton, Alberta shortly after. They were married on July 2, 1954.
A private interment for the family will be held on Tuesday March 25th. Later an open funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM at the Canadian Reformed Church in Barrhead.
In lieu of flowers donations will be gratefully accepted for The Barrhead Cancer Clinic.
