Gerard Vachon
It is with great sadness, yet loving memories, that the family of Gerard Vachon announces his passing on November 16, 2024, at 86 years of age.
Gerard is survived by his sons: Terry (Christine) & family, Andre (Faith) & family, Denis (Alex) & family, Shawn & family, his daughters: Cheryl (Tony) & family, Kim & family, extended family members in the Vachon and Carriere clan, and many friends.
Gerard peacefully joined his family that went before him: parents Rene and Germaine, loving wife Claire, brothers Andre, Jacques, Jean-Pierre, Marc, sister Denise, parents in-law Ephrem and Irma Carriere, brothers in-law Joseph & Emile, sisters in-law Susan, Rachel, Estelle, son in-law Jesse, granddaughter Jeanelle and many other relatives.
Gerard spent two months in Vancouver this past summer, making his annual and final trip to visit his sons and their families in Abbotsford. He was able to attend the wedding for his grandson Zack. This year he stayed a little longer than usual, so that he could meet his new great grandson Jude Rivers, born to Justin & Dominika on July 16, 2024. Gerard was thrilled and honored to hold that brand new baby for over 4 hours.
Thank you to Kim, Shawn and granddaughters Angie, Meagan and Stephanie who took extra care of their Dad/Grandpa in the hospital, he was so happy with the special care and attention.
As per Gerard’s wishes there will be no service, cremation has taken place. In the Spring there will be a Celebration of Life, at which time he and Claire will be interred at their final resting place at the Westlock Public Cemetery.
