SPRING, James (Jim) Donald

On Friday, January 8th, 2021, James (Jim) Donald Spring of Westlock passed away at the age of 84. He will be remembered by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife of more than 50 years, Anne, their son Darryl, his brother Goerge, his brother Harry, and his brother Richard.

James led a full life that took him from his home in Manitoba to Alberta, B.C., and then the Yukon Territories. After 30 years of service with Transport Canada, James and Anne retired from his position of Airport Manager, to the Peace country in northern Alberta. Following Anne’s passing, he moved back to Manitoba for a time, and then finally made his way to Westlock, Alberta to be nearer to some of his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a big man, always ready with a friendly smile and a warm handshake, who was prone to giving great bear hugs to friends and family alike. He thrived on competition, lifelong learning, and acts of kindness. There was a virtual Service held at the Westlock Funeral Home on Saturday, January 16th, at 1:00 PM. This service will be recorded and made available online following the service. In light of the current situation, a Celebration of Life will also be held at a later date. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff and residents at the Pembina and Smithfield Lodges. He was extremely grateful for the support and community he experienced, especially during this past year. Your caring support for James will always be remembered.
