Charles “Charlie” Wesley Saunders
July 9, 1938 - October 6, 2024
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Charles Wesley Saunders, of Westlock, Alberta, at the age of 86.
Charles was born in Barrhead and grew up on his family farm in the Freedom area. Christian values were instilled into him at a very young age and stayed with him throughout his entire life.After taking over the family farm, Charles made sure he was available to help his neighbours with their farming needs as well as working his own land. He also supported farming organizations like the United Grain Growers and Alberta Wheat Pool.
As well as farming,Charles worked at the Westlock Immaculata Hospital, and later at the Westlock Healthcare Centre, where he was a compassionate friend to many members of the community while caring for their sick and dying loved ones.
Charles leaves behind wife, Linda; loving children, Sharon (Miles), Valerie (Michael), Ruth (Larrie); grandchildren, Ashley (Gage), Amy (Anthony), Damion, Edward, and Tyler; and great-grandchildren Hayden, Malachi, Oden, Skye, Nova, and Kayden, and his brother, Albert (Julie). He will be remembered lovingly by all his family and friends.
Charles’ Celebration of Life will be held October 25, 2024, at 2:30 pm at the Barrhead Alliance Church, 5309 43 Street, Barrhead, Alberta. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to ShareWord Global (formally known as Gideons International).
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Westlock Continuing Care Centre and Mayerthorpe Auxiliary Hospital. Your caring and support of Charles will always be remembered.
