It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Leo Weiss, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend on January 11, 2020, at the age of 73 years. Bob remains always in the hearts of his wife of 49 years, Linda; his children of whom he is so proud, Jennifer (Rick), Janet (Ward), Jason, and daughter-in-law Diana; and adored grandchildren, Joshua, Kaylee, Logan, and Emily. Bob will be fondly remembered by his brothers, Frank and Jim (Donna); and many other family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Flora Weiss. Bob retired in 2004 as a Platoon Chief with the Edmonton Fire Department after 35 years of service. He loved being a firefighter and also devoted himself to antique engine and farm equipment restoration, camping with his family and friends, and woodworking (especially when wintering in Arizona). Bob never hesitated to help anyone with any project. The family wishes to thank Dr. Mark Hnatiuk and the staff at the Hematology Unit 5F4 at the University of Alberta Hospital for their extraordinary care. A Visitation will be held Friday, January 24, 2020, from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. at Park Memorial Funeral Home 9709 - 111 Ave. Edmonton. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, January 25, 2020, at 12 noon at St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church 4919 - 51 Ave., Sangudo. Interment to follow at South Park Cemetery and a Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held at the Sangudo Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation (Cancers of the Blood) or the Edmonton Firefighter’s Burn Treatment Society.
