Provencal, Roland

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roland “Pro” Provencal on December 17, 2024 at the age of 85 years.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife and best friend, Carroll; 4 children Cathy, Susan (David), Linda (Wade) and Randy (Kimberly); 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; as well as 2 sisters and 4 brothers. Predeceased by his wife, Judy, in 1988, his parents, Wilfrid (1999) and Gertrude (2021) and brother Maurice (2021).

Born in Vimy, AB on Feb. 23, 1939, Pro lived throughout Alberta but spent most of his adult life in Westlock. He was an avid sportsman who played and coached hockey and baseball, and later loved golf. He had a passion for music and could be found entertaining others around a campfire, singing and strumming his guitar, or teaching himself new songs on the organ. Pro enjoyed traveling and spent more than a decade in Phoenix with Carroll, always happy to host guests or hit the open road.

Pro loved his family more than anything else, and get together with his parents, brothers and sisters and their families was an event he always looked forward to. He was a great uncle to dozens of nieces and nephews and, over the years, entertained them -- and countless others -- as a ventriloquist with his sidekick, Charlie.

A Celebration of Pro’s life will be held in the spring; a notification will be published in advance to inform those who wish to attend.

Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family by visiting westlockfuneralhome.com.
