Joseph “Andy” Nider

June 27, 1961 - May 30, 2024

Joseph Andrew Nider passed away on May 30, 2024, at the age of 62. Better known as Andy, and for many years as “Andy at UFA”, he retired in time to enjoy several years doing his thing.

Andy is survived by his wife, Cathy; and sons Joey and Jack; his niece and nephew Stephanie and Graham and their families; by his Uncle Jim (Jeanne) Cameron and their children Gary (Theresa) Radke, Lorna (Lee) Repka, Shirley (Myles) Lovelock and Brenda (Willy) Smith and all their children. Also survived by his brother-in-law, Rick (Sandi) Johnston and their family, and his best friend John Braglin. Maybe most Importantly, he is survived by his faithful companion, Zeus.

Andy was predeceased by his mother, Marjorie Nider, his sister Elizabeth, and his grandparents James and Dorothy Cameron.

Andy was born and raised in Hazel Bluff. He was a tinkerer, a fixer of all things mechanical, and had a true belief that any part could be useful again. His garage is a vivid testament to that. He was also an agronomist and took up serious gardening in the past few years. Last year he grew amazing vegetables. He loved to putz about the yard and mow the lawn, watch hockey and Nascar.

The garage was his castle. Many, many drinks were shared with friends and neighbours as they discussed the world affairs and how to repair the latest breakdown. He will be missed by many family, friends, and neighbours.

A funeral took place at Hazel Bluff Hall on Friday, June 7, 2024, at 2:00 pm.

Donations can be made to the Hazel Bluff Community Agricultural Association, STARS, or the charity of your choice.
