PATRICIA DOROTHY MEAKIN
It is with deep sadness that the family of Patricia Dorothy Meakin (Pat) announces her passing on July 10, 2024 at the age of 85.
She will be remembered and loved by her 5 children; Janice (Arnold) Piontkowski, Wayne (Linda) Meakin, Pam (Peter) Gonnet,
Wade (Sherry) Meakin, Norine (Ken) Schuster. She will be greatly missed by 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, her brother Neil (Joyce) Thompson, sister-in-law Joan Gillard, brother & sister-in-law Syd & Anna Meakin, sister-in-law Lou Meakin. She was pre-deceased by her husband Gordon, parents Roy & Margaret Thompson, brothers Clayton and Ralph Thompson. Brother-in-laws, Bob Gillard & Stuart Meakin.
Pat was born in Busby Alberta. Her family moved to Medicine Hat for a few years then moved back to the Busby area, later settling in the Alcomdale area when she married. She planted a large vegetable garden for 50 years, spent many years involved in 4-H and was a long-standing member of the Independence Women’s Institute. She always had a container of cookies on the counter for the kids and grandkids for when they visited. After retiring from the farm, they moved into Westlock.
The family would like to thank Dr. Coulson and Westlock Continuing Care for their compassionate care. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Alberta or Alzheimer’s Society of Canada can by made in memory of Pat.
