MARTINSON, Marlene

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marlene Martinson at the age of 69. She passed away in the Westlock Continuing Care Center after a hard fought battle with both ovarian & lung cancer.

Marlene is survived by her 2 sons Troy Martinson & Desi Graf, her loving partner Ken Fehr, her step-children Rick, Eddy & Deanne as well as numerous grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her brother Bernie & her father Melvin.

Marlene spent her early life in Eckville before moving to Vancouver where Troy was born. She spent a summer in Maui before leaving the warm climate for Swan Hills. From there she moved to the Dapp area where she briefly lived with her mother Marion & step-father Wayne. She met Emil & Desi was born. Marlene worked very hard on the Graf farm, when not in the field or the barn, her favourite times were spent in her gardens. She was a locally renowned canning expert with the best pickle recipe in the area. Hosting friends & family for weekends or birthday parties were always fun for her. She enjoyed creating memories with everyone she encountered, having fond stories of which will undoubtedly continue to be shared in her wake.

On behalf of the family, we’d like to extend extreme gratitude to her family doctor, Dr. Adrian Coma whom she adored, the staff at both the Westlock Health Care & Continuing Care Centers for their tireless efforts in keeping her comfortable.

As per Marlene’s request, there will not be a funeral service but instead a celebration of life with a date still to be determined. Troy will announce said date & place on Facebook.
