LOCKHART, Hugh Walter
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Hugh Walter Lockhart of Red Deer, Alberta on August 27, 2023 at the age of 68 years. Hugh was born in Red Deer, Alberta on December 8, 1954. After graduating with a Bachelor of Physical Education degree from the University of Alberta in 1976, Hugh accepted a teaching position in Barrhead, Alberta. A few years later Hugh left teaching and began a 20+ year career within the golf industry in Alberta and British Columbia, and eventually owned and operated his own landscaping and snow removal company in Red Deer. Hugh was an avid golfer and curler and volunteered countless hours to numerous causes throughout his life.
Hugh leaves to mourn his father Walter Lockhart (June Bevan) of Red Deer, daughter Holly Lockhart (Jon Oko) of Edmonton, niece Colleen Turner and her sons Ethan and Daniel, all of Red Deer, and nephew Christopher Turner of Kelowna, British Columbia, as well as numerous friends and extended relatives. Hugh was predeceased by his mother Lena in 2012 and sister Mavis in 2019.
A celebration of life will be held at the Red Deer Elks Hall, BPOE, No. 85, 6315 Horn Street, Red Deer on Friday, September 15, 2023 at 11:00 am. Cremation entrusted to Sylvan Lake Funeral Home & Crematorium.
