Hula, Dorothy, Mary, (Nee: Kostiw)
Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Dorothy Mary Hula (nee: Kostiw) passed away peacefully with her family by her side on June 1, 2024, at the age of 85.
She will be remembered by her loving husband of 64 years, Bill; son: Dan (Glennis); daughters: Kim (Jerome) Hetu, and JoAnn (Cliff) Atkinson; 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, brother Bill (Sheila) Kostiw, sisters Bet Savage, Pat (Allen) Balay, Jean (Ted) Wilson, Joy (Ernie) Pidsadowski, as well as numerous relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her brothers Bob and Harry, sister Phyllis, and parents John and Lena Kostiw.
She taught lower elementary for 35 years, with the last 22 years providing Westlock grade one students with their very best start. She absolutely valued reading. She collected books and gave away many books from her collection to encourage a love of reading. Dorothy loved her family very much, and she and Bill attended as many of their grandchildren’s activities as they could, and often gave a loving handwritten note after. She was Bill’s caddy and coach for golf.
Respecting Dorothy's wishes, a private Celebration of Life will be held for immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made in Dorothy’s name to the Westlock Continuing Care Centre for specialized equipment purchase.
The family wishes to send a special thanks to the staff at the Westlock Continuing Care Centre, for their great care and compassion.
