Edouard “Ed” Joseph Emilien Houle

Edouard Houle was born on December 2, 1937, in Morinville, AB, to parents, Lily (Rivard) and Emilien Houle. He passed away on August 26, 2024, in Edmonton, AB, at the age of 86.

Edouard grew up in Morinville, AB, finishing high school in nearby Westlock, AB. He married Yvonne in 1971, and they took over the family farm near Pickardville, AB, from his parents.

He lived out his dream as a farmer and inventor, creating equipment and gadgets that served his farming needs and the needs of many neighbours.

Edouard was a very proud French Canadian and enjoyed visiting with his family and friends. Speaking French was one of his favourite things to do.

He will be forever missed, and lovingly remembered, by his wife, Yvonne (Letourneau) Houle, sons, Allain (Anita) Houle, and Robert Houle; siblings, Armand, Richard (Doreen), Pauline (Maurice), Raymond (Simone), Simone (Bernie); grandchildren, Oliver, Abby, Isabelle, Sam, Jaytee and Jace, along with many nieces and nephews.

Edouard was predeceased by his parents, Lily and Emilien, nephew, Laurier Houle, and sister-in-law, Yvette Houle.

Please join our family to celebrate Edouard’s life. There will be a viewing and prayers at the Westlock Funeral Home on Thursday, September 5, 2024, from 6 – 9 pm. The funeral service will be held at the St. Benoit Catholic Church, in Pickardville, on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 11 am. The service will be livestreamed and the link will be available at www.westlockfuneralhome.com.

Lunch will follow the funeral service at the Pickardville Hall. We’d love to see you there, carrying on dad’s love of visiting.
