Dwaine Edward Harding
March 5, 1953 – April 6, 2025
72 YEARS OF AGE
Dwaine Harding had a life full of love and laughter, and we sadly said goodbye to him on April 6, 2025 in his home surrounded by love and family. He was born in Fort St. John, B.C., and soon after moved to Alberta and lived on a farm near Kinsella, Alberta where he was primarily raised by his wonderful grandparents up until the age of 12. He then went to Fort Assiniboine to live with his parents and siblings. He met the love of his life Sandra, and they were married soon after in 1973 and spent an incredible 51 years together. Later on they welcomed their two daughters, Chandra and Kyla, and created many great memories as a family, mostly living in Swan Hills and Barrhead.
Dwaine had a variety of jobs throughout his life, including working on the rigs, trucking, owning different businesses, and working in the oilfield. He received the gift of life, a double lung transplant, in 2002 and he was unbelievably grateful to have received this second chance at life. He was able to meet his three grandchildren and create many more lasting memories; he was a very proud Papa. His family will forever be grateful to the lung transplant team and all the other healthcare teams he had throughout the years for keeping him with us for as long as possible.
Dwaine loved dirt biking, fishing/boating, camping, golfing, bowling, and sports of all kinds. He was hard-working, strong-willed, generous, loving, caring, and full of integrity. Dwaine was a jack of all trades, always fixing something and helping everyone out. He was full of laughter, always making a witty remark and joking with everyone.
Dwaine is remembered by his wife, Sandra, his two daughters, Chandra Devaux and Kyla (Tyson) Oatway; and his grandchildren Sierra Devaux, and Ryker and Cade Oatway. His siblings, Bill (Louise) Harding, Linda (Brian) Reis, Janie (Shannon) Harding, and Pat (Cliff) Arntson, as well as his Uncle Steve (Sandy) Harding. Brother-in-law Garry (Ruth) Borg, sister-in-law Linda Hewitt, along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He is predeceased by his grandparents,Joe and Alma Harding, and his parents, Ed and Lucille Harding. His brothers,Allen Harding and Dennis Harding, and sister Kathy Meyer. His in-laws, Anton and Dora Borg, and brother-in-law, Reg Hewitt.
Dwaine did not wish to have a memorial service. If you would like to honour his memory, please consider making a donation to the Alberta Lung Association or charity of your choice. He touched so many people in his journey and will forever be missed and loved. There are so many stories and memories to cherish.
