Gail Cunningham
March 21, 1942 to August 3, 2024.
With much sadness we announce the sudden passing of Gail Cunningham (nee Soper) on August 3, 2024 at the University Hospital in Edmonton.
Gail was born In Athabasca March 21, 1942 to George and Jean Soper of South Athabasca. She married the love of her life, Keith Cunningham on July 15, 1961 at St. Albans Anglican Church in South Athabasca.
Their first child, James Richard, was born, February 15, 1966. Soon after the Soper/Cunningham family moved to the community of Yarrow, BC. Where their second son, David Keith, was born, October 13, 1973.
In 1978, Keith, Gail and family returned to Alberta. They settled in the Strathmore area where Keith worked until his retirement in 1998. Keith and Gail decided to spend their remaining years in Athabasca, a place that was always close to their hearts.
Gails passing was very unexpected due to a massive stroke, from which she never regained consciousness. She passed away peacefully on the morning of August 3, 2024, surrounded by her loving husband Keith, of 63 years, and her two sons, Jim and Dave.
Gail was predeceased by her parents George and Jean (Halliwell) Soper and brother Richard. She is survived by her husband Keith, son’s Jim (Barrie Bishop) and Dave (Kari). Grandchildren Sabrina, Conner (Emma), brother Bill Soper (Karen), sister Heather Dion (Hugh Scott).
Gail will always be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Funeral arrangements will be announced in spring 2025.
