It is with broken hearts we announce the untimely death of our beloved parents,

Harold and Mary Bassani

As we struggle to cope with the loss of our Mom and Dad, we (their 4 daughters) are flooded with memories of a life full of adventures, laughter, mishaps and undeniable love. Whether you knew our Dad through his many years as a drywaller/taper in the Barrhead area or our Mom when she ran the local Health Food store in Barrhead or maybe because of their many years in the community, we know you will remember them for their compassion, kindness and uncanny ability to make you laugh. My Dad and Mom would also joyfully share with those around them their exciting Bible-based hope for the future. At this time a lyric from a song both my Mom and Dad enjoyed comes to mind, “A heart that’s broke is a heart that’s been loved.” As their daughters our hearts are broken because we know how much we were loved.

Harold was born April 25, 1945 in Westlock, Alberta. Mary was born in Germany on August 21, 1946.

They are survived by their 4 daughters, Paula (Chad) Pampu, Robin (Aaron) Kraig, Mandy (Joel) Whitley and Jayme (Tyler) Boreland; grandchildren, Molly (Nick) King, Isaac Whitley and Willow Kraig; Harold’s sister, Barb (Teuvo) Kotoneva; Mary’s brother, Earnest (Alice) Korenowski and family; Mary’s sister, Lillian Koreniowski (Erroll); Mary’s nephew, Jim (Sandy) and his so, Daniel. We also cannot forget Mary and Harold’s abundance of loved and spoiled animals.

Harold was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Elsie Bassani and his brother, Jim (Valorie) Bassani. Mary was predeceased by her parents, William and Teresa Koreniowski and sister, Gloria (Ralph) Hubele.

A special thank you to Amanda Thompson for her unwavering support and selflessness throughout each moment. To our dear brothers and sisters in the Barrhead Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, thank you for holding us up and caring for needs we didn’t know we had. We want to take this time to also thank the Barrhead RCMP as well as Barrhead and Community Victim Services for the delicate and respectful approach they showed toward us during the darkest moments.

As requested by Mary and Harold, there will be no funeral. An Open House/Tea will be held on Saturday April 8, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m., at the Summerdale Community Hall.
