Erna Baron
February 9, 1930 – March 11, 2025
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Erna (Radke) Baron, our beloved mom, grandma, and great-grandma.
She leaves to mourn her loss, her children, Glen (Brenda) Baron and Joy (Garry) Barton. Her memory shall be cherished by her precious grandchildren, Lee (Kristylynn) Barton, Andrea (Kent) Wierenga, Heather (Geoff) Woodruff and Lindsey (Carl) Catherwood; great-grandchildren, Abigail, Jaiden, and Ethan Barton, Nate Wierenga, Eden Woodruff, Lilia and Reece Catherwood; brother, Eric (Beryl) Radke; also numerous other family and many dear friends.
Erna is predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Sam, her parents, Michael & Amelia Radke, and her siblings, Adam Radke and Edith Kuhn.
Erna was born in Lunnford, Alberta on February 9th, 1930. The family moved to the Tiger Lily/Campsie area in 1936 where she attended Benton School. She married Sam Baron of Naples, Alberta on June 10th, 1951 and they farmed together for 43 years until their retirement to Barrhead in 1994.
Erna was a devoted farm wife but enjoyed her time as a floral designer at the Barrhead Flower & Gift Shop.
In retirement, she enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards, bowling with her team 5 Roses and spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, donations are greatly accepted to St. John’s Lutheran Church or charity of choice.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 1:00 PM from St. John’s Lutheran Church, Barrhead.
