WESTLOCK — Three more people tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours in the Westlock area.
There are 23 active cases in the Town of Westlock, Westlock County and the Village of Clyde out of 151 recorded since the start of the pandemic in March. One person has died, a 90-year-old man who lived in the Westlock Continuing Care Centre.
The outbreak at the Continuing Care has been ongoing since mid-November.
Premier Jason Kenney announced the public health measures put in place Dec. 13 will continue for another two weeks until Jan. 21. Schools will still reopen Monday as originally planned.
Across the province, 968 cases were identified, 14,833 tests were conducted, and the positivity rate sits at 6.4 per cent. Hinshaw added that on average the province is still recording 1,000 cases daily.
There are 13,298 active cases in the province. Hospitalizations sit at 861, with 139 of those in ICU. Another 24 people passed away since yesterday’s update. The death toll in Alberta reached 1,217.
