The Westlock Pioneer Museum is asking area residents to submit stories and photos depicting life during the COVID-19 pandemic for future research purposes and potential inclusion in new exhibits. Anyone who wishes to contribute materials can do so through e-mail at [email protected].

WESTLOCK – The Westlock Pioneer Museum is seeking stories and photos from residents to help document the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the local community.

Rebecca Skuban, a summer student working at the Pioneer Museum, said they are looking for anything that could help document what life was like during the CO- VID-19 crisis.

Skuban said the museum is collecting information about the pandemic both for the purpose of putting together future exhibits and to have on hand for future researchers examining how COVID-19 affected Westlock and area.

The main method of submitting stories and photos to the Pioneer Museum is through its e-mail address: [email protected]

Skuban suggested people could share stories about living at home during the shutdown, like what residents did for fun or what it was like when the schools were shut down.

“Knowing what happened in everyday lives is what matters for local history,” she said.

Skuban said they don’t have a maximum word count for submissions, but suggested that every resident limit themselves to roughly 10 items, be it individual stories or photos.

As for the timeframe, Skuban said they’ve decided to leave it open as the COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing. In short, there’s no deadline on when stories and photos can be submitted.
