Pembina West Co-op Gas Bar and Convenience Store hosts Fuel Good Day on Sept 17

Pembina West Co-op Gas Bar and Convenience Store is holding their Fuel Good Day on Sept. 17 and Blue Heron Adult Learning is the lucky non-profit to benefit that day.

“It is tremendously important,” Natasha Lefebvre, Pembina West Co-op Gas Bar and Convenience Store manager said.

Fuel Good Day gives our Co-op the opportunity to provide support to these non-profits in our communities.”

Lefebvre stated that Fuel Good Day has happened every year for the last ten years, as long as she has been with the Pembina West Co-op organization.

“Barrhead Adult Learning wants to make learning affordable, and Fuel Good Day will help lower the costs of the classes offered for participants,” said Trish Enman, Adult Literacy Coordinator at Barrhead Community Adult Learning.

“We are a non-profit funded by a grant from the government, but the grant funding doesn’t cover things like tutor honorariums, or other extra costs that arise with students in achieving their learning goals.”

This year, between 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. five cents per every litre of fuel purchased at Pembina West Co-op Gas Bar & Convenience Store on Fuel Good Day will go to Barrhead Adult Learning.

If you purchase a coffee or a Big Cool Slurpee during those hours, Barrhead Adult Learning will receive one dollar.

There will be a BBQ set up, sponsored by Pembina West Co-op, where you can also get some delicious treats by donation, with the donations going to Barrhead Adult Learning.

A booth will be set up so you can learn about Barrhead Adult Learning and get information on how to sign-up for classes or how to teach a class that can be offered through the Barrhead Adult Learning group.

Barrhead Adult Learning supports learners at every level.

Entry-level training, certification training and even advanced skills training are offered through Barrhead Adult Learning for both individuals and businesses in the community.

Learning opportunities in the community contribute to building the wealth of knowledge we can all benefit from.
