BARRHEAD - RCMP are looking for the public's help to identify a man believed to be involved in a theft of up to $8,000 from the Barrhead Neighbourhood Inn.
Barrhead RCMP Sgt. Bobb Dodds said via a media release that on May 11, at about 9:45 p.m., a man described as being skinny, with a long nose, between five-feet-six and five-feet-eight-inches tall and wearing all black entered the Neighbourhood Inn and started talking to a front counter employee about room rental rates.
The man then excused himself, saying he would return, which he did a few minutes later, but instead of going back to the front counter, Dodds stated the man entered an area designated for employees only.
"(He) then yanked the handle and managed to open a drawer where the tills and cash boxes from the video lottery terminals (VLT) are stored. The suspect then ran out of the Neighbourhood Inn and was last seen travelling westbound at a high rate of speed on Highway 18 in a newer black Dodge Ram, possibly a 3500 model with a diesel engine," he said, adding the truck had custom black rims.
Unfortunately, the security cameras were not able to capture the licence plate.
The suspect is also believed to have a female accomplice that entered and left the Neighbourhood Inn at the same time.
If you have information about the suspect's identity or any other information about the theft, contact the Barrhead RCMP at 780-674-4848 during detachment hours from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or after hours at 780-674-2696. For those wishing to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
