BARRHEAD – Freson Bros. is renovating its store with new windows installed in the future area of a specialty coffee shop that will be located in-store.
“Construction started in November. We don’t have an exact completion date, but we are hoping in February construction will be complete,” said Cory Robideau, Barrhead Freson Bros. store manager.
“I haven't actually seen any hard finalized blueprints yet but we're starting phase two as of this Monday (Jan. 13).”
Robideau explained that they have run into a few minor setbacks with drain installs being one of the after-start revisions to the plan.
New windows to the outside will give customers a shaded view of several businesses and roadways looking north.
Inside the store the old pharmacy walls will be removed and coffee shop customers will be able to see all the way to the cashiers.
Additional changes are being made to open up the bakery so you can watch the talented bakers work their magic creating the treats customers enjoy.
The coffee shop entry will be through the store, part of the open concept. Robideau stated that they are recruiting for positions within the coffee shop, collecting resumes now.
They won’t be setting up interviews until closer to the actual opening of the coffee shop.
Some of the internal staff has shown interest and will be evaluated for the positions applied for.
A manager, supervisor and baristas are the positions that are currently posted as available positions.
The speed of construction in Phase two will really determine when interviews will be happening.
When visiting the store today you will see that a temporary way has been built with a door to the construction area to keep shoppers safe and away from the hazards.
The renovations and the large windows that bring lots of natural light into the space will give Freson Bros. more a fresh market atmosphere with many in-store specialties.
The coffee shop area will be getting new flooring as the existing store flooring has been discontinued.
Freson Bros. have opened coffee shops in some of their other locations already.
The company is celebrating is 70th anniversary in 2025.
