BOYLE  —  A total of $400,000 in stolen property was recovered from an acreage south of Boyle in late August thanks to the joint efforts of local RCMP, traffic police, and a K-9 team.

On the morning of Wednesday, Aug. 21, Boyle RCMP, in conjunction with the Boyle Integrated Traffic Unit and Eastern Alberta District police dog service, executed a search warrant on an acreage property.

Upon entering the property, police recovered a stolen red Peterbilt semi-truck, with an attached trailer stocked with lumber, with a value totalling $400,000. Officers also seized drugs and weapons as part of their search.

Edmonton resident Lance Allen Harris has been charged with possession of property over $5,000 and failing to comply with release orders and was found to have multiple outstanding warrants under Edmonton Police Services.

Former Boyle area resident Richard Wilfred Perrier has been charged with failing to comply with a conditional sentencing order as well as possession of methamphetamine.

Both Harris and Perrier were remanded into custody following a judicial interim release hearing. Harris appeared before St. Albert court on Aug. 26, and a bail hearing was set for Aug. 29 in Edmonton Court of Justice.

Perrier’s matters were seen in Boyle court Aug. 27 and adjourned to Sept. 10.

“We were able to successfully disrupt this criminal operation and hold these individuals accountable,” said Boyle Cpl. Gavin Bergey. “These efforts demonstrate our commitment to combatting property crimes, keeping our communities safe and bringing prolific offenders to justice.”
