BOYLE – The Boyle Healthcare Centre will be without an emergency department from 8 p.m. Friday night until 9 a.m. Sunday morning.
The Aug. 9-11 closure, which takes place as the village celebrates its annual Wildberry Festival, is due to a lack of registered nurses (RN) and an inability to secure temporary coverage, according to an Aug. 9 Alberta Health Services (AHS) release.
EMS will remain available in the community and will work with surrounding healthcare centres to ensure residents continue to have access to emergency services. Both the William J. Cadzow Healthcare Centre in Lac La Biche and the Athabasca Healthcare Centre are operating as usual.
AHS reminds residents to call HealthLink at 811 which is available 24/7 for non-emergency health-related questions. Patients may be made aware of services available through local pharmacies.
