Long-time Village of Boyle residents Arden and Rita Delisle won Home Hardware’s 2019 national Home Installs GY$B Contest — GY$B means ‘Get Your Money Back.’
“When they phoned me at work to let me know that we won I was shocked,” said Rita Delisle. “I was like, ‘Oh my God!’”
The contest was eligible to all qualifying customers from participating Home Installs locations across Canada — customers who completed their dream renovation with Home Installs were entered into the contest to win $20,000. The Delisle's work totalled $90,000.
“On behalf of over 1,050 Home Hardware stores across Canada, I would like to congratulate Arden and Rita Delisle on their dream renovation,” said Carol Alberts, owner of the Athabasca Home Hardware Building Centre. “I know I speak for all Home Hardware Building Centre owners when I say Home strives to be the trusted source for Home Installs by providing quality products, advice and workmanship at competitive prices.”
The couple had been wanting to renovate for a while, but were not sure where to start.
“When I walked into Home Hardware in the new store and saw the kitchen in the back I said, 'That's my kitchen and I want that,'” said Rita. “I got talking to one of the girls and she said they do all the contracting so they could work it right out of there.”
Installs coordinator Kevin Clow went to the couple's home and put together an estimate of everything they wanted done besides the kitchen. Ultimately the they renovated their fireplaces, master en suite by removing a Jacuzzi tub and installing a walk-in shower, the living room, refaced all their cabinets and added new ones, added pantries, and took out a window and replaced it with a garden door.
“They did an awesome job and we had a lot of work done here at the house,” Rita added. “The nice thing about it is one-stop shopping; we didn't have to worry about contractors. They took that worry off our shoulders because Home Hardware supplies all their own subcontractors.”
Home Installs is more than just manual labour for the renovations as they offer decorating advice as well.
“We had the kitchen done and Kevin made some suggestions,” Rita explained.
The couple are now looking forward to celebrating Christmas Eve with their children and grandchildren in their newly remodeled home.“I love my house,” Rita added. “(Home Installs) did a lot of work and it was worth every penny.”
